NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION
TEAM REBRANDING

In the summer of 1995, the Houston Rockets introduced one of the most revolutionary and controversial team identities in the history of sports branding. The Rockets launch came right after Houston had won back-to-back NBA Championships. From the start, the identity was filled with fan backlash. After all, how often does a team change their brand after winning consecutive NBA championships? 25 years have passed since the change, and today Rockets fans have embraced the now familiar navy blue, red and crystal blue bold and brash identity.
